Yesterday, Pedro Martinez signed a 1 year/$1 M deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. With incentives, Martinez could earn an extra $1.5 M on top of his contract. Pedro was immediately placed on the 15-Day DL by the team and there is no time table as to when he will appear with the major league club. Potentially, after a few minor league starts, Pedro will be eligible to come back to the majors to start for the Phillies.
Pedro Martinez is undoubtedly a Hall of Fame candidate and another factor in the Boston Red Sox 2004 World Series team. I've always enjoyed watching Pedro throw at Fenway and wish him the best with his new team in the National League. One of the strongest and most enjoyable hurlers to watch, anxiety is going to rise until Petey makes his first major league start after coming back to the game.
