The 2010 baseball season has begun. Opening night capped off the Red Sox first win of the season, followed by two more loses to the Yankees. It's time for you all to cash in your early votes and let us know who you think is going to win the American League East this year.
Boston Red Sox
Tito and the Sox have devoted 2010 to pitching and run prevention defense. Not giving much thought to a bigger bat in the lineup yet, but I'm sure that will happen before the trade deadline. The theory of run prevention is all good and fine, but when you're allowing 7-9 runs per game and not covering offensively, the concept of run prevention isn't really holding strong. I'm not sure how long Beckett, Lester and Lackey can carry a team that's only scoring 3-4 runs per game.
New York Yankees
I hate them more than anything else in baseball, but they have one of the best offensive lineups in 2010. The Yankees however are polar opposites of the Red Sox this season with all of their money in offense and not much to rely on in the bullpen. Sure any bullpen can get hot for a short period of time here and there throughout the season, but as the season drags on, those arms are sure to get tired and wear out.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Tampa Bay has one of the best young and upcoming teams in 2010. Between Evan Longoria and Carl Crawford, they can score well over 100 runs a piece this season and also drive in just as much. The Devil Rays stay pretty quiet throughout the season, but don't be surprised when Longoria is an AL MVP candidate and they are pushing either Boston or New York out of the post season.
Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore has been the bottom of the barrel in the AL East for a long time now. Unless Cal Ripken and Brady Anderson come out of retirement and play all nine positions, that's not going to change any time soon.

Clearly the Yankees are gonna take the East. Boston will be lucky to finish ahead of Tampa!

I honestly think that either the Sox or Yankees are going to be bumped out by the Devil Rays one way or the other. But let’s be honest Rob, you know that it’s the Bronx Ladies that are going to miss out in Soxtober.
Yankees will win AL East, Sox and Rays play game 163 for a playoff spot.
Wait, isn’t there a fifth team in the AL East? A Toronto somethings? I thought I read that somewhere.
That aside, I see the Yankees winning the division, followed by Tampa, with the Red Sox third and the Orioles fourth. Unless the rumoured Toronto team actually does exist, in which case the Orioles will be fifth.
Yeah, I made the mistake at first and figured they’re not going to come close anyway so why bother adding them.
