The Boston Red Sox preformed a miracle when they won the World Series in 2004 after coming back to beat the Yankees in the ALCS after being down three games to none. All around town we were being told over and over again, "it's never been done before", "no one's ever come back after losing the first three games" and "face it, the red sox can't beat the yankee's".
David Ortiz then had two game winning hits in games four and five giving Red Sox fans a reason to believe again. Boston went on to win the next two games of that series as well as sweeping St. Louis in four games to win their first World Series in 86 years. That wasn't the end of it either, the Red Sox then went back to the World Series in '07 to sweep Colorado in their second Championship season this decade.
Where It All Began

The New England Patriots are actually the real cause to all of the success in Boston over the past decade. Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft designed the greatest scheme in all of professional sports. The Patriots have spent the off-season over the past few seasons going out and signing free agents that are older veterans, have some issues with their teams and look like their careers are just about done. This was the greatest idea ever. Sign a player that no one else really wants, get him for league minimum and have a chip on his shoulder to prove everyone wrong by winning you a championship.
After coming out on top against the Rams as the underdogs in Super Bowl XXXVI, players wanted to come to New England and play football for Belichick and win championships. That was just the start for sports teams in the Boston area. So far Belichick has recruited players such as Corey Dillon, Randy Moss and Fred Taylor. All these "bad boys" have come to the Patriots for one reason, championship trophies.
Banner #17

Back in the day the Celtics were the biggest dynasty in basketball, and it was all due to Red Auerbach and his Big 3 (Bird, Parrish, McHale). The 2008 Celtics also broke a drought winning banner #17 thanks to Danny Ainge and his Big 3 of Pierce, Garnett and Allen. The deal that brought KG and Ray Allen to Boston had me sold, players are coming to Boston to win championships for a city that can appreciate it. These guys are going to retire here as Gods.
Look at things that have been forgiven. I mean hell, Bill Buckner was invited back to Fenway after the Red Sox won the World Series. What's next, are we going to dedicate a memorial to Babe Ruth? Induct Scott Zolack into the Patriots Hall of Fame? The new generation of sport has made itself known well in Boston and doesn't appear to be going anywhere. Let's just get the Bruins back on board next.

Boston is undoubtedly a winning sports town. I’m not quite sure what makes one a dynasty however. At some point it seems as if New York, Philadelphia, L.A, Denver, etc. have all been dynasties with one (or more teams, in one or more sports). I completely respect what has been accomplished by these Boston organizations. Thanks for contributing this article to the Athletic Alley Blog Carnival.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to submit to the Blog Carnival Rich. I’m glad you enjoyed our content as well.
I agree that cities have had dynasties other than Boston, such as the Lakers, Steelers and others, but the recent influx of championships in Boston was so phenomenal to me after the decades without any at all. Plus I’m biased, of course.
