Last week I said the Celtics needed to split the two games of the series in Chicago in order to regain homecourt advantage. They did! Game 4 was so close for us as I watched on TV and checked my phone countless times to check the scoreboard walking to the store and being out in the sun with the sportsfangirl. Tuesday night the series returned to Boston for another overtime nailbiter that Paul Pierce iced with 4.5 seconds left on the clock.
The Celtics lead the series 3-2 with the next game in Chicago and a possible Game 7 in Boston if necessary. The sad part is that instead of thinking that the series will end in Chicago because we've already shown we can win on the road, I'm thinking this series will come down to a close Game 7. Going into multiple overtime games against the Bulls scares me. Is KG that important to the lineup that we can't win consecutive games without him? I don't know what to think anymore. Our big men have filled in amazingly yet Chicago keeps bouncing back. Whether the Celtics are playing down to the competition or the Bulls are just much better than they appeared to be in the regular season, I'm nervous!
Where Will Amazing Happen This Year?
Let's say that we take the series against the Bulls regardless of six games or seven. We then play Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic in Round 2. If Joakim Noah has been giving us a hard time weighing a total 86 pounds in the paint, imagine what Dwight Howard is going to accomplish no matter where we play.
I don't even want to look this far ahead, but if the Bulls are giving the Celtics this many problems, what are we going to do against Howard, Lebron and Kobe! I don't want to give the impression that I'm not a believer in my team, but I'd have to actually go to church every Sunday to build up enough faith to fathom that.
My prayer right now is that Philadelphia beats Orlando after Howard gets suspended at least a game for throwing an elbow Monday night. I'd feel much better playing the 76ers and their new AI in Round 2 and have dreams that Cleveland gets knocked out somehow too. That's down the line, stay focused, watch the C's and make some noise, anything is possible!
