Super shocking that Dwight Howard elbowed Glen Davis under the hoop, hurt him and had no foul called and no further action taken against him during the remainder of the Eastern Conference Finals. As you remember, Dwight Howard slammed Paul Pierce to the floor earlier in the series and was called for a flagrant I, end of story. Not only did Howard do this to Glen Davis last night;
Howard also slammed Kendrick Perkins to the ground after a lay up. Not only was there no foul called, but Perkins was later given a double technical, making him ineligible to play in game 5 along with Glen Davis taking a seat for the concussion that Howard gave him. This now leaves us with Rasheed Wallace to start at center with some mixture of Kevin Garnett in the paint to contain dirty Dwight in an attempt to end the series.
So basically the NBA is saying that it is acceptable for Dwight Howard to manhandle anyone in the paint whether he hurts them or not, but no Celtics player can do anything remotely close to that without being T'd up or called for the foul. That sounds pretty fair, right? Maybe the NBA wants to see a Dwight Howard/Kobe Bryant finals as opposed to seeing the better Celtics team have their rematch with the Lakers for Banner 18.
Thanks to the notorious Keith Allison for the photo of Dwight Howard.
