Last season, the Celtics lost some key players that were in large part, reasons why they won the NBA championship in 2008. Leon Powe and Tony Allen were two dominant down low forces of the bench for Boston. After KG’s knee injury, the Celtics went out and signed Rasheed Wallace to replace their down low dominant bench players. The 7-foot Rasheed Wallace has done nothing but upset me and not impress me with his lack of defense and mediocre offense. Wallace can bang a three once in a great while when we’re already up by a ton yet doesn’t play any type of defense and is averaging about 4 rebounds per game (0.6 offensive and 3.6 defensive).
If I could single handedly run Rasheed Wallace out of town, believe me, I would. The man is a cancer to what was a championship caliber team over the past two years. Again, a 7-foot beast that is timid of his own size and contributes nothing but anger and technical fouls to the team. The trade deadline has past and we’re stuck with Rasheed Wallace and his contract.
If only I could turn back the clock and change a few things. Leon Powe, James Posey and Eddie House would still be here. Rasheed Wallace would have never been signed and I would have pulled the trigger with Ray Allen going to Washington for Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler. The time to make moves has passed and we need to focus on how to rebuild this team in the coming years. Let us know what thoughts you have in the comments section below; shots at Rasheed Wallace would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to Lorianne DiSabato for the picture of Rasheed Wallace.
