Brett Favre Meeting With Brad Childress, Vikings

in Football, NFL

It's time to get excited Brett Favre fans. It was announced Wednesday morning that Brett Favre met with Minnesota Viking head coach Brad Childress this week. Favre was given his outright release by the New York Football Jets and is now a free agent. The likelihood that Brett will not return to the NFL now, would be more surprising than if he stayed in retirement. This seems like another Brett Favre saga that will be drawn out until September, but we'll see how it goes this time around.

On April 1, 2009 we posted an April Fools article about Brett Favre un-retiring and signing with Eric Mangini and the Cleveland Browns. While I was writing the article I wanted to come up with something funny, far stretched yet believable. I find it hilarious now that Brett Favre is actually considering another comeback to the NFL. If Brett Favre does sign with the Minnesota Vikings, does that make them a playoff contender? How will he fit in with the team and will his 40 year old body (with a healing torn bidep tendon) be able to go through the pain and suffering of another season as an NFL quarterback?

On Thursday things got a bit blurry. Reports stated that Brad Childress was in Mississippi to have dinner with Brett Favre on Wednesday night yet was seen entering the Minnesota Vikings facilities at 8am on Thursday morning. Neither Brad Childress and the Vikings nor Brett Favre and his agent have confirmed or denied the meeting between the two. However, Brett favre has allegedly hired his own personal quarterbacks coach to work with him while the Vikings would be at OTA's and mini-camps. If that doesn't tell you which way he's leaning, I don't know what more it would take aside from watching him sign his contract in person.

Is Brett Favre Signing With the Vikings?

Is Brett Favre Signing With the Vikings?

All I know is that I'm highly excited about this. I love Brett Favre and hope that he comes back for another season. The old gunslinger might need tot one it down a bit and realize he isn't what he was at a younger age, but I know he's got enough in him to make another run at the Superbowl. With Adrian Peterson, Bernard Berrian and some familiar faces for Favre on the sidelines, nothing would make me happier in September than to see #4 in any jersey, even if it's purple. Sorry Packers fans, I know that the Vikings are your rival, but Brett Favre was the face of your franchise and just wants to keep playing football. Favre can't get it out of his system because it's hard to do that. Don't hate a man that won you championships, MVP's and put a face on the map for Wisconsin. Be understanding that he's just a man that loves football and doesn't want to stop playing, ever! Would you?

Thanks to DavidErickson for the picture of Brett favre.

I’ve been following Brett Favre as far back as my Grampa. I had a hard time picturing him in anything but a Packers uniform, but I’m a fan of Brett Favre, not the team he plays for.

Brett is reportedly waiting for the Vikings to get an X-ray/MRI done for his torn bidep tendon. It was also said that if he does not need major surgery that he will sign with Minnesota.

I am not a fan of Brett Favre and genuinely think he’s way past his prime. If he comes back it’ll just be more FAIL like it was with the Jets. Go away Brett, your time is past.

I’m sorry you feel that way Adam. When Brett signs with the Vikings, I’ll make sure we alert you personally when they make a playoff run to prove you wrong.

How can you not like Favre? I love his style of play, but he is getting another ring….

Not a fan of Favre because A) he and the Packers beat my Patriots B) half the time he just throws the ball up for grabs and hopes someone on his team catches it. I like my football slow and calculated where every yard counts and mistakes and just throwing the ball up hurts your team, not helps it.

Sometimes his style of play is exciting, but I wouldn’t want him quarterbacking any team I coached.

P.S. You want in on this wager me and Josh got going Jim? Check out the comment train below this one for deets. You’d have to fly in from Costa Rica to buy me a beer when I win though.

Just like how the New York Jets made the playoffs last year? Favre is done. Toast. Finished. Coming out of retirement will just further diminish his legacy.

Absolutely not Adam! The talks are still in the works and Brett Favre will show everyone he’s still got enough left in the tank for another great season.

Hmmm…sounds like it’s time for a friendly wager. If Favre comes back and his team does not make the playoffs, you owe me a beer and vice versa, if he comes back and his team does make the playoffs I owe you a beer. Deal? Is it on like Donkey Kong?

Looks like Favre got some surgery and might be coming back. I hope he does for the purposes of our wager.
