I found this video while searching around on Monday and saw how sick Cody Paul was. Cody Paul plays for the Los Alamitos Griffins Pop Warner football team. The video was posted in 2007 when he was 12. He is now 15 years old and I was unable to find out if he was playing high school ball or even if he was still playing. If you can find any of that information, leave it in the comments section below.

Thanks to jdanvers for the pop warner football picture.

It took 9 dudes to tackle him! WTF! He could probably beat me up….I’m scared.

And their quarterback has got an ARM. Threw it like 50 yards. Think they could beat a few high school teams (::cough cough English cough cough::).

I said this already to Josh, yeah he’s alright for a 13 year old playing against other kids that have no real idea what they are doing. I knew a bunch of kids that had moves like that playing Pop Warner, so I say whatever about the Pop Warner stuff and wait to see what he does later in life against people that have an idea about how to play football.

P.S. Here’s a link to his high school football team’s website. He’s a sophomore now playing on Varsity and doesn’t have any stats as of their first 4 games.

So he’s a sophomore playing on the Varsity team. He’s learning the system that he’s going to dominate for the next two years.

He’s 13 years old and plays for Los Alamitos Griffins, who have gone to the Pop Warner Superbowl two seasons in a row. Anybody with minimal football brains can see the real talent here is the coaching. Look at the blocking schemes taught to the o-line, the receivers and especially #20. I’m not saying Cody isn’t good, he is. But this entire team is packed with talent.

From the coaches mouth himself —-

“Cody is NOT 8 years old, he is 13 years old. The film fottage you’re watching is from our season last year (when he was 12years). They are of our first Regional game agaiinst Valencia Park (San Diego, CA); and our 2 Pop Warner Superbowl games vs Holliston Panthers (Red and white) and the San Marin Colts (Green and Yellow). We won all three of those games to go 15-0 and become the 2006 Pop Warner National Champions D-2 PEE WEE level (Warner Bracket).

The coaching he received and the players surrounding him were just as great. The prior 2 years, Cody played for another team, along with #20 that first year, and they amassed only 2 touchdowns in those years. The offensive line in front of him were outsized all year, and yet they were able to open up holes that a Mac-truck could go thru untouched. They were, and are, ALL awesome.

In closing please, know that Cody was a part of a GREAT team that did amazing things (last year was our second trip to Florida (back to Back) to coompete for the national Championship). All the players and their families made the coaching experience beyond phenominal. I am pleased, to know and have worked with them all. I do sincerely hope that this serves to clear up any misconceptions about Cody and the rest of 2006 Los Alamitos PEE WEE GRIFFINS!

SIncerely,

Christopher Austin”

I agree, no one man makes a team. I agree, he has great blocking in a great system. I am still slightly confused on the game film, but you did clear things up greatly.

I could be wrong, but you seem extremely offended at the fact that people are giving Cody a lot of credit and not as much to the team. Everyone knows that football is a team sport, but this video itself was solely based on Cody Paul himself.

Matt, maybe you should read around a little. Cody Paul got injured in the first game of the season. He was playing and right early on the game was up for him till he gets back from injury. It happens dude, doesn’t mean he sucks. Wait and see how he goes by end of season and judge then.

I never said he “sucks”, I said I’ve seen kids play like that in Pop Warner and was waiting to see if his skill will extend to playing against other bits of talent. And I was only posting that he was on the team with no stats as of the 4th game. Not sure what you were inferring from my previous comment.

I coached Jr. high and High school football in S. Louisiana many years. Watched Joe McKnight (now at USC) come up from 10 years old. I coached a 12 year old phenom tailback who was equivalent to Joe at that age that only became a better than average slot reciever in high school and never played at the next level. The point is you can not, I repeat, can not tell what a young Cody Paul will be at 18 years of age. Might be great, might be average, might never hear of him again.

I agree with you Coach, but from the ability he’s shown to cut back on a dime, he reminds me of a wes welker type that would be great at returning kicks in the open field. But yes, once he turns 18 and starts to train, lift and grow into his body, he may become slower and less agile.

I think Cody is a great runningback who can probaly get pass me. I played defencive tackle and linebacker for my last 2 years in football (2006 – 2008). I wasnt big at all, just very aggresive. Im 13 now and only weigh 101lbs!!!. Im in full-time weight training right now on my upper body and alot on my legs. Ive gotten 35% faster and i plan on going to runningback next season in my Westlake football return.

It seems like cody has a lot of potential and there is no doubt in my mind he has talent. Lets just hope he has a mentor to point him in the right direction and that his career flourishes past high school tailback.

I’m not saying he wasn’t good at that age, but all that he really did was out run kids his age and make occasional good cuts. just saying you guys think because hes on varsity as a sophomore and what not that hes going to be GREAT, not completely true, I’m sure he’ll be an okay player. Theres a lot of talent these days and they’re kids like him all over are amazing in pop waner and then everyone catches up.
