While changing the league settings mid season isn't a good move I don't think the trade posed in this thread is worth a veto.No one can see into the future and will only rate trades based off of ADP and name not team needs screwing over the owners looking to potentially better their team. Unless there is obvious collusion trades shouldn't be vetoed. What's the point of trying to buy low and sell high if other owners will just veto a trade because they personally wouldn't make the trade and they feel one team isn't getting the better end of the deal. I'll use Arian Foster from last year where his ADP had him somewhere in the 20's for running backs taken and MJD who was probably a consensus top 5 pick. If you were to try and trade MJD for Foster at the beginning of the season as you liked his potential it probably would have got shot down by other owners due to his ADP and name alone potentially costing the potential Foster owner his season. You can even switch MJD for CJ2k, both of those guys had good seasons and drafted high definitely not as great as Foster.

I agree with Rob, as I also came here as I’ve been reading about vetoes. First i think Josh was wrong for turning off veto power to approve his own trade. But my arguement is that maybe it shouldnt have been there to begin with. Im in a league with 9 other people i know personally. In my situation i see NO REASON WHATSOEVER why two grown a** men cant agree on a trade that they feel would make their respective teams better without input from other teams! What is that! Every draft we see players that fall below their projected draft status because the team or teams who coulda got em decided even if just on a hunch, that someone down the line was better suited for THEIR TEAM. We see breakout players every year and unexpected monster performances weekly! But i gotta keep who YOU want me to have? We cant say "No! you cant draft Mcfadden over Peterson bcuz thats unfair to you." That would be ridiculous so why should i have the power to say who you, a totally competent GM capable of making his own decisions should be able to trade for? The protest trade feature (in my situation) should be called the HATER BUTTON bcuz it clearly has nothing to do with the teams involved (who clearly agreed) and EVERYTHING to do with other teams fearful of what the trade could mean for them. In the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and any other league, salary cap is the ONLY thing that can stop two teams from executing a trade for whoever they want and the other team feels is worth trading for. The other teams in the league just have to deal with it and possibly consider some moves of their own to adjust. I mean whats the fun in being a GM if you cant exercise your savvy and individual theorys and strategies? Terrible.

I know this thread is old but i was searching for the real intent behind trade veto and stumbled upon this. I don't know how you can judge someone as a "poor excuse for a human being" based on fantasy football, but I wish you the best in your future endeavors in the world of fantasy sports. And as I have stated multiple times. It was wrong what I did. I have taken responsibility for my actions and admitted that it was a scumbag move. Please make sure you complete you research before attacking someone integrity in the future. But again, take a look from my perspective where myself and another manager wanted to make a trade that we were both interested in yet the league revoked it to keep themselves safe from defeat. Also, what Adam did not tell people in this article is that after that trade was made, he then continued to trade his entire team to his step-brother and another manager to create one super-team that still did not finish in the top three in the league, how's that for integrity? And also, I'm sorry that I had to modify your comment with the expletive, but I do not like to have profanity to that extent on the site. Thanks for the thoughts though.

Thanks for the warm words Don. However from reading all of this heres what i see.Josh you changed the rules without asking your league to vote on it and you immediately were benefited from the rule change. You also stated that you didnt think a league vote was necesarry. Well who the [expletive] cares what you think? You dont get to decide that, thats why theres a league vote. What you did was see a way to abuse your power and get what you want with complete disregard for the rules and of your fellow managers. Here are a few of the definitons of cheating from the dictionary. "to violate rules or regulations" "to elude; deprive of something expected"
I would say you deprived them of a vote that they expected
and that you violated rules and regulations for your own advantage. So enough said you cheated, and the fact that with all of this evidence being stacked up in front of you you wont admit you cheated just speaks to the kind of person you are. I'm glad i'll never have to meet such a sorry excuse for a human being.

So i just stumbled onto this page because of a recent indiscretion with my comissioner which wasnt cheating, but was close to it. I'll still fight that tooth and nail Adam.John, I'm sure the guys in your league making that trade are trying to build one dominant team by dumping players to the stronger team. Look for them to try to make more trades this week after the games.

You can also take a look at the league standings and if the guy getting bush and blount is higher up than the guy getting greene, then that’s a dump and it’s obvious cheating.

As opposed to the trade I made last season which wasn’t a dump it was also before week 2 of the season and everyone tried to veto it to protect themselves from losing to me, big difference.
