Other than the New England Patriots beating the New York Jets this past weekend, there was one thing that was far better than the victory and it came in the last 25 seconds of the game. Leading up to Sundays matchup between the Patriots and Jets, the underlying battle between Randy Moss and Darrelle Revis was showcased as an even bigger rivalry.
In the week 2 loss to the Jets, Revis held Moss to 4 receptions and 24 yards with a long of 9 yards. In week 11, Revis shut down Randy again, in a sense, with Moss having 5 catches for 34 yards and a 5 yard touchdown at the end of the first quarter. Revis covered Moss well all day and with less than a minute on the clock, Tom Brady threw an incomplete streak pattern to Moss after the game was already won.
The camera's panned to the sideline and showed Rex Ryan who so nicely stated (as I did my best to read his lips), "That's (effin) bullshit. They threw the ball with 25 seconds left". This was said after Ryan called a timeout with 2 seconds left on the clock after a deep ball from Sanchez, bringing the Jets to midfield. Apparently the referees did not appreciate Rex calling that timeout with the game already out of their hands, but it excited me very much to see how upset old Rexy got when he had a taste of Belichick after a loss.
Up next, the undefeated New Orleans Saints, nervousness and excitement are all around.
