NFL Week 5 Predictions

in Football, NFL

After a rough 7-7 week 4, I'm still struggling around that .500 mark with a 33-28 (.541) overall record this season. This week is redemption, I plan on having a big one, I hope.

Baltimore -9 v. Cincinnati - Carson Palmer and the Bengals haven't been working out too well whether I pick them or go against them. Baltimore is a strong team and their at home against a division rival tied for first place. I can see Flacco going off in this one.

Buffalo -6 v. Cleveland - If you can't score, you can't win. Cleveland hasn't scored or won yet this season.

Washington +3.5 @ Carolina - Another winless team in Carolina that can't seem to get it together. Washington is struggling as well, but Zorn's job is going to be on the line the next few weeks if he doesn't win a few games.

Pittsburgh -11 @ Detroit - Matthew Stafford may or may not be playing, similar to Troy Polamalu. I like Pittsburgh to run away with this one, literally if their ground game shows up again.

Kansas City +9 v. Dallas - Many experts are picking Kansas City to win the game outright. I think Dallas will win, but with the uproar for the Chiefs, I'll take the points and pray.

Brett Favre-Minnesota Vikings

NY Giants -16 v. Oakland - I don't like to spread, but I don't like the Raiders chances either. And they started out looking decent this season too.

Tampa Bay +16 @ Philadelphia - McNabb, Vick, Kolb, Philly can't make up their mind. Josh Johnson gets his second start for the Bucs and he was slightly impressive last week. I'll take 16 in this one.

Minnesota -11 @ St. Louis - Brett Favre Brett Favre Brett Favre Brett Favre. Until they lose, I'm on their side.

San Francisco -2.5 v. Atlanta - Everytime I go against the 49ers I lose. Time to switch it up.

Houston +5 @ Arizona - The Cardinals haven't found their way this season and although Houston isn't doing much better, I like their chances against a struggling Cardinals team with a lack of offense.

New England -3 @ Denver - Even though Fred Taylor is not going to be a part of the Patriots running game, I don't see Bill Belichick allowing Josh McDaniels to come away with a win, even thought the Broncos are 4-0.

Mark Sanchez-Jets

Jacksonville +1 @ Seattle - Seattle may or may not have Matthew Hasselbeck at the helm, but either way they don't have much of anything working for them while the Jags have everything working for them.

Indianapolis -3 @ Tennessee - Peyton Manning has been amazing and I don't see the Titans defensive backfield putting an end to that any time soon.

NY Jets E @ Miami - I'm convinced that the Jets could possibly win the AFC East. In order to do that, you need to beat the teams you're supposed to beat, especially in the division.

Yeah, keep me posted, I wish I had enough time this week to get a hold of you before I made my selections but work has been extremely busy. Note the lack of posting in general all week. I am doing much better w/o the spread this year though. 42-19.

Worst week ever. I need to come up with a better strategy for next week. I know anything can happen on any given Sunday, but 5-8 going into Monday night is just disgusting. It can also mean that the phone bill would be getting paid late, if I were betting.
