In the Monday Night debacle that every Patriots and Jets fan alike thought was going to be the closest game ever turned out to be the 2nd highest margin of victory ever (42 points) on MNF. The Patriots destroyed the Jets 45-3. After all the hype, all the trash talk and all the slander, New England came out to play football and executed it perfectly.
The New England Patriots moved to 10-2 on the season and took over first place in the division as well as the conference. Not to mention, we also own the tie-breaker over the Jets now. We also own the tie-breaker over the Steelers, Ravens and Colts (who may not even make the playoffs this season, fingers crossed). The 2010 Patriots are starting to look like the teams from the beginning of the decade, an offense that slowly and methodically moves up field, chews up clock and scores at the end of a 12 play, 87 yard drive. They follow it up with a younger, bend but don't break defense that ranks last in the league in almost all of the statistical categories yet they still manage to win. Why? Beacuse they get stops and turnovers when they need them and they make big plays when they need to be made.
I hope everyone else is buying in and realizing that we have one of those special teams on our hands again. It's back to those scrappy, hard playing, giant hearted guys that will put themselves on the line play after play to get the job done. It starts with winning the Division and then conquering the entire league to close out the decade with our fourth Super Bowl championship.
Thanks to Keith Allison for the picture of Tom Brady.
I see no picture? Anyway, the Pats are the quietest 10 and 2 I have ever seen.
Jim, The pictures are now only on the home page with the links to the articles. I don’t think they’re as quiet as they have been after that Monday Night Beatdown.
