Michael Jackson has been a music icon for decades, declared as the King of Pop. Michael is also indirectly involved with the New England Patriots winning three Super Bowls. In 1984, Patriots owner Chuck Sullivan went broke by funding the King of Pop's Victory Tour. Due to this, Sullivan was forced to sell the team to Victor Kiam with the team changing hands two more times until finally landing with present owner Robert Kraft. Thanks for everything Michael, from your Victory Tour to the New England Patriots victory tour.
To pay tribute to Michael Jackson's impact on the pop world and his hand in the Patriots' three Super Bowl victories, here are three of our favorite Michael Jackson videos, correlated to the three Patriots' Super Bowls.
The Thriller - SuperBowl XXXVI - New England 20-St. Louis 17
No one expected the Patriots to beat the Rams in this thrilling superbowl victory with a last second field goal by Adam Vinatieri. Thriller is arguably Michael's greatest work, an epic video that rivaled many movies at the time for its production values.
Just Beat it - Super Bowl XXXVIII - New England 32 - Carolina 29
After having one Super Bowl victory under our belts, Michael Jackson summed up the Patriots feelings, telling the Carolina Panthers to just "beat it".
Don't Stop ' Til You Get Enough - Super Bowl XXXIX - New England 24 - Philadelphia 21
The best thing about Michael Jackson is that he inspired so many others to sing and dance. The Patriots took that inspiration to heart by winning a third Super Bowl, because two was just not enough, clinching a spot in the history books as a dynasty. Similarly, Michael Jackson's impact on the music world, from his own chart topping hits, to all the top artists he inspired can be described as a music dynasty.
Here's a great video from a Michael Jackson fan doing a damn fine job of impersonating the King of Pop's dance moves. This kid can dance!
