Fred Taylor and Wes Welker being injured, Tom Brady still being scared and Randy Moss getting shut down on a weekly basis by the opposing #1 corner? Offensive reasons why the Patriots are 3-2. A still suspect defensive backfield, Jerod Mayo limping on and off the field and no veteran players? Defensive reasons why the Patriots are 3-2.
There is no reason whatsoever to panic and tank it for the season. There is no reason to think the Patriots are going to lose every game from here on out. There is no reason to think the Patriots will not make the playoffs. There is reason to think they will make it as a wildcard after seeing what the Jets are capable of and what the Dolphins have been doing with the Wildcat since Chad Pennington was pronounced out for the season. The New England Patriots have been struggling recently, but everything that has been happening, happened already. It happened in 2002, it happened in 2004 and it happened in 2005. What would you rather, losing early in the season to kick it off in December and make a post season run or go 18-1? I know what I want.
This weekend the Patsies are playing Tennessee in Foxboro. The Titans defense is ranked 23rd overall, allowing 338 YPG and 139 PTS so far this season (31st overall when it comes to the 287.6 passing YPG they allow). This is the team that we needed to come into town to give Tom Brady and Randy Moss the confidence they need to get the season going on the right track. Let's hope that Moss has more catches from Brady than he does from Kerry Collins on Sunday.
Thanks to steveglass for the picture of Randy Moss.
im surprised wes isnt injured more often – he looks about 6 inches tall.
he’s been good with injuries until this season. With smaller guys they tend to get hurt easier because of the strain on their muscles and ligaments, they have to push themselves harder.
For example, Randy Moss V. Wes Welker to run 70 yards. Welker has to take more steps to make it that far, pushing his body more. Now picture that over 16 games.
i know all about it. im 5 feet tall ive been taking 40 steps just to keep up with ppl all my life.
Wes Welker being back will help the team but the Patriots need to find a way around the coverage that Randy Moss is getting. Unless Moss gets open it could be a very long season. No doubt the Pats should beat TN this week – at least I am hoping they are. It we lose it will feel a lot like 18-1.
