Super Bowl 44 Predictions

Super Bowl 44 - Saints vs Colts

After an exciting Pro Bowl (actually, was it, I didn't watch it) we arrive at the last game of the season, the Super Bowl! I will say that it just feels right having the season truly end with the Super Bowl and I hope the NFL keeps this new schedule going forward. This is it, this is the end, the game to declare the World (American) Football Champion.

The Super Bowl Match-Up

In one corner we have the New Orleans Saints. A delightful team that is a ton of fun to watch on both sides of the ball. After persevering through one of the worst natural disasters in American history, the city of New Orleans rallied around their Saints team and tomorrow their Saints team has a chance to give them one heck of a reward, the city's first Super Bowl champion.

In the other corner we have the hated Indianapolis Colts. Not too long ago the Colts were the darlings of the NFL world. But after an onslaught of Peyton Manning commercials (yes, cut that meat, ok, we get it, now STFU) and a decision to abandon perfection, the tides have quickly turned against the Colts, who are now the clear-cut villains in this match-up. Everyone not from Indianapolis is rooting for the Saints, who are somehow still perceived as underdogs in this game.

In week 13, aside from our favorite teams, we all wanted a Colts-Saints Super Bowl, with two undefeated teams facing off. Well, we got ourselves a Colts-Saints Super Bowl. The two top teams from the NFL's regular season will play to see who is the best team this year. If the Saints win, there'll be a celebration that will top Mardi Gras. If the Colts win, their strategy will be justified, but still not Bruschi-approved.

The Standings

Before we get to the predictions, let's take a look at the standings:

  1. Jim Gaudet 5-5
  2. Josh Gans 5-5
  3. Adam Pieniazek 4-6

Josh's 0-2 conference picks allowed Jim to climb into a tie, which means this Super Bowl will not only decide the NFL champion, but also our NFL Playoffs Predictions champion!

The Predictions

Jim Gaudet

Have you heard of the Secret? All the stats point towards the Colts, but I think all the people really want to see the Saints win. With that universal power, New Orleans wins their first Super Bowl...

Saints over Colts 28 - 24

Josh Gans

I’d like for the Saints to win but it's not going to happen. Both teams have explosive offensives are going to back and forth all game until the scoreboard breaks. The Colts have a better defense, which will be the deciding factor on the final drive.

Colts over Saints 45 - 38

Adam Pieniazek

Reggie Bush.

After countless incredibly important college and pro games where a costly Bush mistake led to a loss or near-loss, Reggie will redeem himself with a spectacular game against the Colts.

In all other faucets of the game, the Colts and Saints match up really well. But the Colts do not have a Reggie Bush type player and he will be the difference in this one. Last second heroic leaping touchdown gives the Saints the W and their first Super Bowl.
