1. I Don't Condone In Cheating
Regardless of what the circumstances are, no matter what their relationship was like, whether there were or were not problems, Tiger was wrong right off rip for cheating on his wife. Nothing is going to change the fact that what he did was not acceptable. There is no excuse in the world for marrying a woman, only to sleep with another woman; even worse, sleeping with multiple other women.
2. Maliciously Attempting To Ruin A Man's Career And Life
When the story broke from TMZ, the media went on a frenzy and began to do everything possible within their limitations to ruin not only this man's career, but also his life. As previously stated, Tiger was absolutely wrong and should be held accountable for what he did. He should be held accountable by his wife, not by me, you or any other person in the media.
People seem to feel that athletes and other famous people give up their right to privacy and should have all of their lives exposed to the public. What really bothers me about this is that Tiger Woods is getting the Bill Clinton treatment for this as opposed to the Wade Boggs treatment. It is simply people be haters because Tiger is the best golfer in the world, similar to how Bill Clinton was one of the greatest President's in the world. Compare the story to Wade Boggs, who cheated all over his wife and no one ever said anything except for the fact that he had a great mustache when he won a World Series.
3. Tiger Shows Symptoms Of PED's
I'm not a doctor, nor am I an expert, but I do love following PED's in sports. I have heard a few reports of Tiger Woods using performance enhancing drugs and I feel that he does show some symptoms of PED usage. When Tiger first entered the game, granted as a young man, he was very small and meager, now as a grown man, he has grown enough to push through his shirts and bulge at the seams.
Do I care whether he did or not, at this point, of course not. Tiger Woods made the game of golf popular, he got people watching and he made the sport a lot of money and entertained millions. When it comes to this, I put Tiger in the same category as Canseco, McGwire and Bonds, revolutionaries.
4. Athlete Of The Year
I would not be the first to lead a campaign that Tiger Woods should be athlete of the year, but I also wouldn't say that he shouldn't be eligible. Regardless of what we think, golf is considered a sport and Tiger Woods is an athlete.
Thanks to Keith Allison for the photo of Tiger Woods.
