We recently passed the two month anniversary of Sports Fan 4. It’s been a great ride so far and I know Josh loves all the comments and tweets all of you write here and send his way. I only blog here occasionally but read all of Josh’s posts and think he’s really developed very well over the past two months.
We started the site as a place for sports fans to get news and opinion about sports from other sports fans. Not sure how it is in other cities, but here in Boston the sports writers for the major newspapers often get put on a pedestal and forget why they started writing about sports in the first place. Personally, I love the writing style of a Bill Simmons more than a Bob Ryan (at least for sports) and we wanted to bring that type of style to this site.
From the feedback we’ve received, it seems we’ve succeeded and that people are really enjoying the site. Google recently updated their Page Rank (part of their ranking formula) and gave Sports Fan 4 a 5 out of 10, which is a really good Page Rank for a site that’s just two months old!
Over the course of these two months, we’ve received 6,548 page views, 1,270 unique visitors, and 21 subscribers (subscribe for free via RSS or e-mail). We’ve published 70 posts and received 304 comments. Overall, we’re very happy with the way the site is progressing and owe a huge amount of gratitude to the community that is developing here.

Nope, we do focus on the Boston sports teams but if something interesting happens with other teams we might write about them too.
And we were covering the Celtics a lot but, well, we lost a little motivation a few weeks ago…plus no real news to report on our C’s right now.
I’m starting to think you might be a yankees fan Jim? Don’t worry though, we won’t hold it against you if you are, it will just make for interesting banter in October…if New York is still around this fall.
A bad few seasons lately, but I will stick with OUR numbers….
Yes a true blue Yankees fan every since Mattingly (my all time favorite). Although since I moved to CR I don’t spend as much time with baseball.. Checking standings now..
Well don’t worry Jim, we will keep you updated everytime the Sox smash the Yankees and vise versa. Hopefully the former more than the latter.
