Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, confirmed to the world that Wayne Rooney declined to sign a new contract with the top European soccer club.
I will confess, I am a United supporter. I like Rooney, as a player (even though he goes through his phases). As a person, he is as self-centered as they come.
He has been nothing but a headache most of the 2010 calendar year. He got injured in a Champions League fixture last year and was then seen drinking a beer in a private box the next fixture. On to the FIFA World Cup where he did not score a goal and was as close to a no show as you can get.
On to the current English Premier League season, where he has not been the best performing player on the team. He was caught sleeping with a prostitute while his wife was pregnant. Oh yeah, one goal in Premiere League play, 0 in Champions League play. He also faked an ankle injury a few weeks ago.
By the way, he will miss the Champions League fixture this Wednesday against Bursaspor again due to an ankle injury. Just know, if you are playing for Sir Alex Ferguson, you do not get in long-term fights with him. History shows he will win. Just ask Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Roy Keane, and David Beckham. Sir Alex will win every time.
The next question is where will Rooney go next? Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all been rumored. They all have the money and are all top European clubs. Manchester City has not been afraid to shove out money, which has propelled them to a force not to be taken lightly the past two seasons. They already got a former United player in Carlos Travez. Regardless of where he ends up next, I will guarantee United fans will not miss his antics and will look forward to beating his next club.
